CHILDREN’S MINISTRY LEADER
OVERVIEW
First Baptist McAlester is seeking a Children’s Ministry Leader for our Children’s Ministry (“MAC Kids”, birth through 6th grade). This role involves developing and implementing a clear path for children's spiritual growth while aligning with the overall vision and ministry of the church.
The church’s mission is to Gather, Grow, and Go in Jesus. Everything done at First Baptist must align with this mission.
This ministry leader will be a part of the Ministerial Staff.
We are prayerfully seeking a Ministry Leader whose passion for Christ fuels their innovation and creativity to disciple our children to gather, grow, and go in Jesus.
It is not the intent of this job description to be a complete list of responsibilities. This position may be responsible for other duties as necessary at the discretion of the Lead Pastor, Discipleship & Administration Pastor, and Personnel Committee.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Education and Outreach
To ensure biblically sound teaching that leads and inspires children to deepen their walk with God and facilitates leading children to faith in Jesus Christ.
Develop, organize, and effectively manage all children’s programs.
Develop a Sunday and Wednesday schedule that best fulfills the church’s mission to Gather, Grow, and Go in Jesus.
Develop and utilize special activities to further the gospel such as summer activities, Easter, Fall Festivals, Christmas, and VBS. These activities should be planned in cooperation with the Ministerial Staff.
Coordination and Collaboration
Coordinate with the Ministerial Staff to ensure all MAC Kids activities and events work harmoniously with other activities and events to fulfill the church’s mission.
Collaborate with staff members in a cohesive and open team environment.
Attend staff meetings and training as required.
Oversee paid nursery/children’s workers assigned to MAC Kids.
Oversee King’s Kids (Mother’s Day Out).
Work directly with and supervise the King’s Kids Director and King’s Kids employees.
Coordinate the use of shared facility space with King’s Kids to ensure smooth transitions.
Operate King’s Kids as an outreach ministry.
Recruit, train, lead, supervise, schedule, and assist all those serving for the many facets of MAC Kids.
Meet with staff and MAC Kids servants regularly to evaluate ministry health and effectiveness.
Ensure a smooth and successful transition from MAC Kids to MAC Students.
Communicate with Ministerial Staff, support staff, parents, and the congregation in a timely manner.
Cooperate with the Senior Pastor and Discipleship & Administration Pastor in supervising, hiring, and terminating MAC Kids employees.
Develop, nurture, and maintain relationships with church members for the recruitment of servants, and to assess the health of various aspects of MAC Kids.
Safety and Environment
Develop a safe environment for children by utilizing background checks, CPR training, First Aid training, security development, sexual abuse awareness training, and other tools as necessary.
Ensure that no one serves in MAC Kids without an interview, passing a background check, and completing sexual abuse awareness training.
Build and maintain an environment where parents are confident in entrusting their children to its care.
Ensure the ministry space for all children's activities is clean, well-organized, and properly stocked.
Develop and maintain an annual budget for all MAC Kids needs, ensuring good stewardship of resources.
PERSONAL SPIRITUAL DISCIPLINE
Maintain and grow in a personal walk with Jesus Christ.
Pray regularly for children, parents, staff, and church members.
Take part in personal and professional training/conference opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS
A character that is “above reproach” by having the highest integrity as fitting a minister of Jesus Christ. They should carry this integrity in all aspects of their life including family, church, and community.
